What is Ayahuasca
Ayahuasca is a South American entheogenic drink, with a bitter taste and a brown-red colour. The indigenous people of various tribes who are living in the Amazon rainforest have a long tradition in preparing and making this natural tea called Ayahuasca. This holy tea is made from two plants. The wild-growing climbing plant Banisteriopsis Caapi and Psychotria Viridis. The climber is also called vine.
The active substances of the ingredients are dimethyltryptamine (DMT, an endogenous substance) and monoamine oxidase enzyme inhibitors (MAO inhibitors).
Ayahuasca means ”soul of the vine” in the Quechuan language. Other names are Yagé, Hoasca, Caapi. Ayahuasca is seen as the main medicine by the native tribes. Several indigenous tribes use the plant during religious and healing ceremonies. Ayahuasca is a nickname of the Spanish name ”la purga” meaning purification / cleaning. The purga can be seen as a physical and mental cleansing.
Ayahuasca is also called plant teacher and gives everyone a unique experience. Ayahuasca offers a glimpse into your soul and shows who you really are and can be. It opens doors and provides new insights. Ayahuasca instantly gives you what you are ready for at that time.
Ayahuasca is considered a drug by the Dutch government. This is because of the presence of DMT. Ayahuasca has an illegal status in the Netherlands.
